Gala Games has unveiled a new arena for its popular game, Spider Tanks, called Dragon Cave. This arena is set in the deep caves beneath the scorched surface of the planet Cacus, once home to an ancient civilization. The modern inhabitants, known as Cusans, have repurposed these vast caverns for various uses, including the Tank Olympiad, according to Gala News.
Know Your Battlefield
Dragon Cave is noted for its symmetrical layout, which provides both strategic advantages and challenges. The arena features four repair kits placed at regular intervals around its central ring. This symmetry aids in maintaining strategies on the move but can complicate team coordination, potentially leading to pincer attacks from opponents.
Area 1: Satellites
The outermost circles, known as Satellites, serve as both a refuge and a potential trap. These areas are essential in the Chicken Chaser mode as birds often end up here, overlooked by other players. However, the three attack angles make them dangerous for players using short-range weapons.
Area 2: Roundabout Pullovers
Located between and just inside the Satellite circles, Roundabout Pullovers are essential for maneuvering but also present significant risks. Standing in the center exposes players to attacks from multiple angles, while the pillars at the corners offer some cover. These areas are best used for quick transitions and staging attacks.
Area 3: The Chasm Gap
The Chasm Gap, the strips between each lava chasm, plays a crucial role in arena dominance. These areas offer decent cover and can shift from contested zones to defensive strongholds depending on the match’s flow. The Command Point in King of the Hill mode spawns in the northernmost Chasm Gap.
Area 4: The Inner Circle
The Inner Circle is theoretically the most exposed area but benefits from the cover provided by an ancient dragon statue. This area is pivotal in the Poultry Pusher mode, and players can quickly reposition to threaten any part of the map.
Dragon Cave Best Practices
Cover Isn’t Always Reliable
The pillars in Area 2 may seem like safe spots, but they can be easily targeted from adjacent areas. Similarly, the cover in the Inner Circle can be compromised if enemies move perpendicularly.
Enemies Approach Quickly
The small battlefield size allows enemies to close in rapidly, making it crucial to stay alert. The 8-second respawn timer is often the only delay before an enemy is back in the fight.
Mind the Enemy’s Weapons
The narrow cover in Dragon Cave makes it vital to consider the enemy’s weapons. Artillery can follow players anywhere, and melee weapons can close the distance quickly.
Glorious Battle
While Dragon Cave’s layout appears simple, its strategic depth demands a nuanced understanding of positioning. Gala Games encourages players to master these intricacies to excel in the arena. Future updates promise more exciting features, including an in-depth look at the Railgun.
